For artists and designers. Spend some time with ArtMatic and you will be fascinated and intrigued by the visual worlds it allows you to conjure up. It can be as versatile and subtle as a brush. A number of galleries have featured high-resolution large-format prints of ArtMatic images created by talented artists such as Peter Miller and Eonite. Commercial artists and designers use ArtMatic for book and CD covers, web sites, textile design and more.

For video artists. Numerous DVDs and video art installations have been created entirely with ArtMatic and VTrack. Video professionals at major studios use it to create effects and transitions not possible with their other (and more expensive tools).

For fractal lovers and designers. ArtMatic goes far beyond fractals. It allows you to explore the old favorites as well as to invent new fractals and fractal-like image spaces unlike any you have ever seen. ArtMatic was designed to be both powerful and engaging to use. There are three basic approaches.

Discover (Zen) Mode

Use ArtMatic's randomization and mutation tools to create and explore new image spaces. This mode is ideal for beginners or if you are feeling stuck and need inspiration:

  • Select a tree from the structures menu.
  • Roll the large die to change the tile functions. Keep rolling the dice till you find something that inspires or intrigues you.
  • Roll the small dice to discover refinements of the new tree
  • Use the Random Path animation option to explore the image space's possibilities.
  • Use the Mutations window to see many variations at once.

Tip! Super-randomize to create entirely new tree shapes by control-clicking the large die.

Explore / Refine

Create new images and textures by choosing a starting point (from our large library of examples or one of your own creations) and refining it to suit your inspiration. Your refinements can be subtle or so extreme that you wouldn't guess the starting point.

ArtMatic's sophisticated mutation and randomization tools allow you to discover possibilities of a particular image space that its creator would never have imagined.

As your experience grows, you will be able to take a starting point and know how to modify it achieve the desired effect.

Design

With practice, you will be able to design images and animation from scratch by constructing trees to suit your needs and inspiration. The variations possible exceed our imagination.
